A vehicle with five people inside led a pursuit through Ellis and Tarrant counties before ending in Fort Worth Thursday morning.

An Ellis County deputy witnessed a person in a vehicle shooting at 3:22 a.m. in Midlothian near FM 875 and FM 663, deputies said in a news release. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle involved, but the driver fled.

Shots were fired at deputies as they pursued the vehicle, according to the release. As the chase stretched to other jurisdictions, more agencies assisted.

The vehicle was forcibly stopped by Fort Worth police officers who placed spikes onto the road, according to the release.

Deputies said five people were inside the vehicle. Four of the suspects were taken to local hospitals and remain in police custody. One person wasn’t taken to a hospital and is currently in police custody, deputies said.

No deputies or officers were injured during the pursuit.
