A police chase that started in Ellis County came to a crashing end in West Fort Worth.
According to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy observed a vehicle shooting from the roadway near FM 875 and FM 663 in Midlothian at approximately 3:22 a.m.
Officials said that when the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, prompting deputies to pursue.
During the pursuit, the occupants of the vehicle continued to discharge firearms at deputies, officials said.
According to officials, the pursuit extended into neighboring jurisdictions, including Grand Prairie and Arlington, where multiple law enforcement agencies provided assistance.
Officials said preliminary information indicates the suspects also fired at other responding officers.
Fort Worth police successfully deployed tire spikes, causing the vehicle to overturn and ending the pursuit near Camp Bowie Boulevard.

Local law enforcement also brought in a tactical unit and a drone to assess the extent of the damage and injuries sustained during the crash.
Four occupants of the fleeing vehicle were transported to local hospitals and will remain in police custody, officials said. A fifth occupant was not transported to a local hospital and is also in police custody.
NBC 5 crews at the scene observed two men being taken away in handcuffs, and a third man, who appeared to be unconscious, being taken away on a stretcher.
A short while later, a woman was also taken away from the scene in handcuffs.
No deputies or officers were injured during the chase or subsequent crash, officials said.
