A reward, an anonymous tip and U.S.-Mexico cooperation resulted in the capture of a reputed El Paso gang member listed among the 10 most-wanted fugitives in Texas.
Mexican law enforcement officers arrested Elijah Turner Reyes on Feb. 19 at an apartment in the border city of Tijuana, Mexico, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced on Wednesday, Feb. 25.

Reyes, 25, had been wanted by the El Paso Police Department on a murder charge since last May, though police officials have not divulged in what homicide he is a suspect.

Reyes, a reputed Piru Bloods gang member, was placed on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list in September. A Texas DPS wanted poster offered a Crime Stoppers reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to his capture.
The reward was paid to an anonymous tipster for providing information that resulted in the arrest of Reyes, Texas DPS said in a news release. The amount paid was not disclosed.
Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in El Paso, including Texas DPS special agents, followed up on information from the tip and led the coordinated effort to located and arrest Reyes with assistance of El Paso police, DPS stated.

Following his arrest in Tijuana, Reyes was deported to the United States and handed to U.S. authorities on Saturday, Feb. 21, Texas DPS stated.
In addition to the murder case, Reyes was wanted for failing to show up to court in El Paso in June to face charges of burglary of habitation, drug possession and assaulting a pregnant woman, DPS added.
