Donna’s, the new cocktail bar in Houston’s Heights from restaurateur Bobby Heugel and bartender Jacki Schromm, opened around November and has been a buzzing topic ever since. The partners set out to create a place that can be lively on weekend nights yet intimate and relaxed during the week. From its curated music to inventive cocktails, Donna’s delivers a concept-driven experience where every detail feels intentional.

Located at 2626 White Oak Drive, Donna’s is a compact, deliberately social venue designed for conversation, cocktails, and music. The design of the inside divides the space into two zones which includes a main bar with organically shaped high-top tables for group gatherings, and a cozy living-room section featuring a large couch and booth for a more intimate vibe. The retro-inspired design, combined with museum-quality contemporary art gives the space character.

There is an installed vintage stereo system with a reel-to-reel deck and turntable, which is just a beautiful bonus. Customers can expect crisp sound on nights with curated playlists or even bring their own records for a personalized listening experience. The ambiance provides a great feel of embodying a cozy, yet elevated vibe.

Cocktails are the star at Donna’s, with a focus on inventive martinis that highlight bartender Jacki Schromm’s expertise. The menu includes the classics, specially curated, and even zero proof drinks, which is a guarantee that there’s something for everyone.

Through the menu we get to see how the classics are reimagined through the bar’s distinctly playful and polished lens. Jacki’s Martini is a great example, built with equal parts Plymouth gin and Dolin vermouth, brightened by Cocchi Americano and finished with a savory Parmesan-and-olive garnish that adds an unexpected, umami-rich twist. It’s a perfect representation of Donna’s ability to honor tradition while adding personality.

For guests who gravitate toward strong, spirit-forward drinks, the martini selections are a must, delivering crisp, balanced intensity with every sip. If you prefer something fruit-forward and refreshing, I would recommend my personal favorite of the night, the Disco Raspberry Limeade due to its vibrant berry flavor layered with citrus and a subtle sweetness from vanilla, making it bright without being overpowering. The assortment of options we see at Donna’s is beautifully versatile and effortlessly appeals to all.

On-site parking is minimal, but street parking along White Oak is generally available, and there is a nearby pay lot across the street. The bar’s long hours, from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily, ensure it is accessible no matter what your plans have in store.

Final Thoughts

Donna’s is a fully realized concept where music, design, and inventive drinks converge to create a lively, engaging experience. From the thoughtfully curated art and retro-inspired interiors to the personality-filled cocktails, every detail feels purposeful. It’s a space that encourages lingering, conversation, and shared moments. Donna’s is a great new spot to check out while in the Heights no matter the occasion.
