Texas driver’s license
Texas election ID certificate
Texas personal ID card
Texas handgun license
U.S. citizenship certificate with photo

Early voter turnout so far

In the first eight days of early voting, which began last week, roughly 10.2 percent of Travis County’s 920,114 registered voters had cast ballots — the highest early turnout within the same time period in a primary since 2008.

It marks the second-highest early-voter turnout in Travis County for primary elections in the last two decades. The highest early-voter turnout in the last 20 years occurred in 2008, when 11.4 percent of registered Travis County voters cast ballots early in the first eight days of early voting.

Notably, that’s a higher turnout than the same time periods in the 2020 and 2024 primaries, both of which were during presidential election cycles — when voter turnout is typically at its highest.

The Senate race plays a role in this, Joshua Blank, director of research at the Texas Politics Project, told the American-Statesman. Blank also noted voters have shown an increasing preference for early voting in recent election cycles.
