El Paso fans of Monkey Rock are way bummed about losing the entertainment center but, hold on … it may not be gone forever.
I must admit, I’m a little sad about this too. I only went to Monkey Rock, in the Shops At Solana, once but I had a great time and truly meant to go back when I could really relax and enjoy the place. (It was a work thing.)
Monkey Rock first opened in 2022 in, (what was then called), Sunland Park Mall. It was basically an adult video arcade. Kids could go too of course but really, it was a place for adults to be kids with good food and a full bar.
What Happened To Monkey Rock?
“This is your notice that Landlord (Elm Creek Real Estate LLC.) is hereby electing to exclude tenant (Family Fun Factor LLC) from the leased properties. Your entry upon the leased premises is hearby prohibited, and landlord will construe such prohibited entry as trespass …” states the notice. – elpasotimes
Will Monkey Rock Reopen?
Maybe. According to the El Paso Times article, the notice given to Monkey Rock by their Shops At Solana landlords says that if they settle up all the past due accounts … back rent, late fees, etc … Monkey Rock can move back in.

Monkey Rock is in the former Sears location in the mall which is not owned by the mall itself.
Another Shops At Solana attraction, the Jungle Reef aquarium, ( El Paso’s first interactive, “hands on” aquarium), is also owned by Monkey Rock. It appears to be up and running.
