Mornings just got a little more indulgent. Urban Egg, the Colorado-born brunch concept known for its all-scratch kitchen, opened its newest location in December 2025 at Preston Towne Crossing, marking its second Texas outpost and 12th restaurant in the U.S.

The vibe is bright and welcoming, the kind of place that feels equally suited for a slow weekend brunch or a weekday “treat yourself” breakfast.

At its core, Urban Egg’s philosophy is simple: start with quality ingredients, make as much as possible in-house and build relationships with local suppliers whenever it can. During a recent visit, Local Profile sampled a cross-section of the menu.

Comfort Classics, Turned Up A Notch

Urban Egg’s menu reads like a greatest hits album of breakfast favorites, but each dish comes with a little extra personality.

There’s the billion bourbon bacon, thick-cut and lacquered in a sweet, spiced glaze that lives up to its dramatic name. The chicken and waffle benedict layers crispy fried chicken, bacon jam and silky hollandaise over a Belgian sugar waffle, landing squarely between brunch comfort and over-the-top indulgence.

The smoked salmon benedict felt bright and balanced, pairing cured wild Pacific salmon with dill-infused cream cheese, toasted capers and pickled onions. Meanwhile, the blue corn huevos rancheros delivered bold flavor and texture, from creamy avocado crema to tangy pickled onion and a choice of red or green chili.

Even traditional plates get thoughtful touches. Steak and eggs arrives with roasted espresso butter, sautéed mushrooms and loaded hash browns, while gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are woven throughout the menu.

Save Room For The Sweet Stuff

If there’s a section that steals the spotlight, it’s the bakery-style offerings.

The house-made cinnamon roll appatizer comes sizzling in a skillet, topped with cream cheese frosting and bacon jam — a combination that sounds unexpected but works surprisingly well. The gourmet pancake flight is another crowd-pleaser, offering rotating flavors like strawberry cheesecake, lemon ricotta and blueberry streusel in one colorful spread.

A seasonal orange-cranberry scone provides a lighter option, finished with a delicate drizzle of royal icing.

Brunch Drinks That Keep The Party Going

The drink menu leans fully into brunch energy, with both cocktails and fresh juice blends designed to match whatever mood the morning brings.

The Urban Spritz offers a bubbly mix of prosecco and pineapple-infused vodka, while the espresso martini — a staff favorite — delivers a smooth caffeine kick. For something lighter, fresh blends like the tropical “Cure” or the crisp, green “Heavenly Dew” add a refreshing counterpoint to the richer dishes.

A Welcome Addition To Plano’s Brunch Scene

As North Texas’ brunch culture continues to grow, Urban Egg arrives with a clear identity: comforting, scratch-made food served in a lively, welcoming space.

It’s the kind of place where mornings stretch easily into afternoons — fueled by good coffee, shareable plates and the simple pleasure of a well-made breakfast.

We thank Urban Egg for hosting and treating us.
