Indian drive-thru Zatka Bites now serving comfort food in Round Rock

A new Indian restaurant is now open in Round Rock, adjacent to Curry Pizza House. Zatka Bites offers Mumbai-style Indian comfort food and is locally owned by Bageshri and Kiran Dhotre. The restaurant’s specialty is Vada Pav, a vegan slider with a fried potato patty.

San Pedro Limon opens additional location in Georgetown

San Pedro Limon owner Yuri Paz and her husband, Victor, opened a second location of the Mexican restaurant to “make the dine-in experience better,” employee and family member Jessie Benitez said. The restaurant’s owners decided to move their tortilla machine to the new location, which now operates as a to-go restaurant without seating. Sit-down dining is still available at the original location at 905 N. Austin Ave., Georgetown.

Owner Kaylee Lyons officially launched the home-based bakery, Kaylee’s Country Kitchen, in Liberty Hill. The new business offers made-from-scratch desserts.

The Peached Tortilla launches new outdoor dining area in Cedar Park

The Backyard at The Peached Tortilla is now open in Cedar Park, featuring a new playscape and outdoor dining area as well as a separate menu from the indoor dining room that includes familiar favorites. The family-oriented expansion will serve as a more “laid back” extension of Austin’s The Peached Tortilla, according to a news release. Fixtures of the new space include a play area for kids, Adirondack chairs and picnic tables. The Backyard is open during The Peached Tortilla’s operating hours, according to the release. Patrons will also be able to order food and drinks from QR codes at the tables. The new menu includes dinner dishes like the banh mi taco, which features Vietnamese braised pork belly, pickled daikon carrot, sriracha mayo and cilantro. Offerings also include the pesto udon with Ume plum and Thai basil pesto, marinated chicken, peanuts and Maldon Salt.

Rainey Street’s first-ever sushi bar to open this spring

Nick Ford and Wade McElroy of Rocco’s will open neighborhood sushi bar Kinsho off Rainey Street in Austin, the first-ever dedicated sushi restaurant on the street. Kinsho will offer an a la carte menu, as well as an omakase option. The restaurant will feature an 18-seat sushi bar where chef Victor Gonzales, who has spent time at Uchiko and Lucky Robot, will guide guests through chef-chosen courses.

Restaurateur Erin Wade now owns the property housing restaurant Vinaigrette. The restaurant was opened in 2016 and offers a variety of salads, with “bright and zingy,” savory or lightly sweet flavors, as well as beer, wine, cocktails and mocktails. With the recent purchase, Wade also intends to expand the space with two new concepts: Tiny’s, serving coffee and light bites, and the Live Oak Farmer’s Market, bringing a bi-weekly market of local growers and makers to the neighborhood.

Kyle residents will have a new option for Mediterranean food this summer. Zaytoon Mediterranean Grill owner Mohamad Taffory told Community Impact he will offer dishes such as chicken shawarma, gyros and more. Construction on the 1,500-square-foot restaurant began Feb. 3 and is estimated to be completed by the end of April, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
