EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was in El Paso to hold his “Let’s Roll” campaign event.

The 2:45 p.m. campaign stop at DeadBeach Brewery on Thursday, February 26, is an effort to encourage voters to head to the polls next week.

The governor spoke about his support for law enforcement Thursday afternoon.

“I will not allow our police to be defunded in Texas. I signed a law to ensure we would defund any city that defunds the police,” Abbott told a crowded room of attendees who applauded his remarks.

Abbott was joined by Comptroller Kelly Hancock and candidate for the Texas Agriculture commissioner, Nate Sheets.

Abbott is seeking a fourth term. If he wins re-election and successfully finishes the fourth term, he would be the longest-serving governor in Texas history, surpassing Rick Perry, who served 14 years.
