As Arlington commemorates its 150th anniversary, the City of Arlington’s Office of Communication launches a new podcast series titled Arlington Archives hosted by Arlington author and historian O.K. Carter.
“The podcast dives deep into the stories that shaped The American Dream City,” said Carter. “We’re bringing you the voices and legacies that make this city a cornerstone of Texas and a proud part of America’s story.”
In the first installment, titled “Arlington Eras: Arlington Brands,” Carter and guest, former Arlington mayor Richard Greene bring listeners back to the mid‑19th century. It explores the frontier days, when surveyor Rev. Andrew S. Hayter plotted land for present-day Arlington, the Texas & Pacific Railroad arrival and more. Listeners and viewers learn the hidden history of Arlington’s early commerce, including the famed mineral well, speakeasies and even the underground gambling of Top O’ Hill Terrace.
When speaking about topics on the podcast, Greene mentioned his excitement for residents to learn more about Arlington’s past.
“Except for the people listening or watching this podcast, they’re among the tiny percentage of the population of our city today that ever heard about that,” he said.

Produced in celebration Arlington’s sesquicentennial in 2026, the series features voices from historians, city leaders and longtime residents. Future episodes will further explore Arlington’s history, spotlighting milestones and anniversaries in the city’s storied past.

“Arlington Eras: Arlington Brands” is now available on all major podcast platforms and the City’s social media channels including Facebook and YouTube.
“Let’s keep honoring our past and pave the way for what’s next,” said Carter. “The story of Arlington is still being written, and you are part of it.”
