EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Potholes along Pebble Hills Drive on El Paso’s Far East side have been impacting drivers, especially near the intersection of Pebble Hills and Tim Foster, and that’s what’s driving one viewer crazy this week.

One viewer, Veronica, asked whether the repeatedly patched stretch will ever get a permanent fix, writing in part:

The stretch of Pebble Hills and Tim Foster has been repeatedly patched due to potholes, but it has never been fully repaired — I would like to know if there are any plans for a full, permanent repair of this section of road.

City Rep. Ivan Nino, who represents District 5, under which this area falls, said the issue is a common concern for drivers and that more permanent repairs are already planned.

The work is part of the Pebble Hills resurfacing and reconstruction project, which stretches across Districts 3, 5 and 6.

Work began in January 2026, but the start in District 5 will be delayed because congestion is also a factor, leading to Pebble Hills High School.

Nino said he has been in contact with the school district about the project and plans to provide more notice once the schedule is finalized.

“I’ve had conversations with the Socorro Independent School District. They’re aware of the project. I shared the scope of work with them and I told them that once I have the actual schedule of the actual start date, I will be giving them a heads up so that they could also prepare, you know, their staff, the students, the families. I think it comes down to collaboration and communication,” Nino said.

The Pebble Hills project is one of many included in the 2022 Community Progress Bond, which allocated more than $272 million to road repairs across the Borderland.

Officials said drivers should soon see several other streets go under construction as bond projects move forward.
