Trevor McEuen sentenced to life in prison

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – A Kaufman County jury found a man guilty of capital murder after he fatally shot his neighbor in 2023.

What we know:

Trevor McCuen fatally shot 35-year-old Aaron Martinez, before eventually surrendering following a SWAT standoff. 

The trial was originally set to start in May, but it was delayed when McEuen cut off his ankle monitor and fled, leading law enforcement on a month-long manhunt.

He was eventually discovered, hiding in a muddy hole underneath his grandparents’ house in Van Zandt County.

McEuen has been sentenced to life in prison.
