The JPS Foundation enjoyed an evening of celebration and tradition at its second annual White Coat Gala, hosted at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel on October 18. Through the support of nearly 500 attendees, the Foundation raised over $486,000. The gala is a celebration of the impact and mission of JPS, the doctors who take an oath to care for their patients, and the vital role the JPS Foundation plays in ensuring every resident of Tarrant County has access to high-quality, compassionate healthcare, regardless of their circumstances.
“The JPS Foundation is proud to put on this great event that showcases the thankless work of the doctors that serve those in need across Tarrant County,” said Leah M. King, President of the JPS Foundation. “The Foundation is dedicated to helping JPS serve the community by transforming generosity into life-saving care, building a community legacy.”
Dr. Karen Duncan, President and Chief Executive Officer of JPS Health Network, presented the 2025 CEO Community Impact Award to Cook Children’s Health Care System, for their remarkable leadership and service to patients across the region. Dr. Daniel Casey and Dr. Khoi Chu, members of the White Coat Gala Physicians Committee, presented the 2025 JPS Physician Recognition Award to Dr. Russell Wagner, former Director of JPS Orthopaedic Surgery.
The tradition of the White Coat began in the late 1800s and symbolizes a physician’s pledge to care for patients with both skill and compassion. The White Coat ceremony marks an important milestone for medical students as they transition from the classroom to the clinic. At JPS Health Network, the white coat reflects a mission of equity and access to care for every resident of Tarrant County. Each coat represents long hours at the bedside, critical decisions made in urgency, and the promise that every patient matters.
