The FIU Panthers women’s tennis team is set to face Texas State Bobcats on Saturday, Feb. 28, in Denton, Texas.
In their last matchup against No. 34 Princeton, the Panthers fell at home at the PayCargo Tennis Center to the Tigers, 4-1.
There were positive moments from the singles play, but it was not enough to secure the win. Viktorie Hazmukova was able to secure the only victory for the Panthers with a 6-0, 6-4 win in singles.
Looking ahead, the Panthers travel to play Texas State. The Bobcats enter this weekend, currently holding a record of 6-2, and are on a 6-game winning streak.
Last season, the FIU Panthers finished with an overall record of 15-5 and claimed its third Conference USA Title.
The team led by Head Coach Katarina Petrovic has not had the best start to the season as they currently have a 1-3 record and are in the mix of a three game losing streak.
The matchup against Texas State provides an opportunity for the team to get back on track as they have less than a month until they begin to face Conference USA opponents.
Their first match against a CUSA rival will be on Mar. 20, when FIU faces Middle Tennessee at home.
