EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso County Commissioner David Stout is facing a primary challenge from Miguel Teran as Democrats decide who will represent parts of Central El Paso and the Lower Valley.

Stout appeared on a morning broadcast where he was asked why voters should re-elect him and what his priorities would be if he wins another term.

He was also questioned about property taxes and what he would propose to realistically ease the burden on homeowners.

Another issue raised was concern over AI data centers in El Paso and their impact on local resources, including what Stout thinks needs to be done.

The discussion also touched on immigration detention. El Paso has been in the national spotlight over East Camp Montana at Fort Bliss, described as one of the biggest immigration detention centers in the country and located on federal land. Stout was asked about that facility and about the possibility of another detention center in Socorro that would fall under the county, including what he believes should be done.

Stout was also asked what would happen if he loses the election.
