Trump visits Port of Corpus Christi to tout energy agenda

  • February 27, 2026

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – President Donald Trump is set to visit the Port of Corpus Christi, marking his first stop in the region during his second term in office.

The visit comes days after Trump’s State of the Union address, where energy policy was a central focus.

Corpus Christi is the nation’s leading exporter of liquefied natural gas and one of the country’s top petroleum hubs, with 42% of petroleum products nationwide passing through its port.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that Trump will tout his “drill baby drill” agenda during the visit.

The White House confirmed Trump is traveling aboard Air Force One with a group of special guests, including Texas Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, Reps. Lance Gooden and Michael Cloud, Paul Perez — president of the National Border Patrol Council — and actor Dennis Quaid.

Supporters of the president gathered at the port on Friday, February 27, as did protesters outside the facility.

The president is expected to highlight fossil fuel production and exports along the Texas Gulf Coast.

According to the White House, Trump’s remarks are expected to begin around 3:30 p.m.
