Upgrades are slated for three wastewater pump stations in Allen following a contract with Halff Associates.
The Carter Court, Stacy Ridge, and Summerside Lift Station Rehabilitation Project includes replacement of equipment at each pump station. Allen City Council approved a $710,500 professional services contract with Halff Associates for the project at a Feb. 24 meeting.

Underground pipes and gravity transport most of the city’s sewage to the North Texas Municipal Water District for treatment, according to city documents. However there are some low-lying areas where the city relies on mechanical pumps to lift sewage to higher elevations and carry it to the treatment plant.
The Carter Court Lift Station, the Stacy Ridge Lift Station and the Summerside Lift Station were all constructed in the late ’90s and early 2000s, per city documents.
The equipment requires frequent repairs and maintenance, and replacement of the equipment is more cost effective, city documents state.
What’s next
Halff Associates will conduct an engineering report, complete design drawings and provide cost estimates for each lift station, per city documents.
Once city staff receive estimates, they will update the capital improvement plan to include the total amount needed for the construction phase for all three lift stations. Project timelines were not stated in city documents.
