GEORGETOWN, TEXAS–Central Texas is home to so many diverse and dynamic communities with so much to explore!
The latest “Out and About” road trip stopped in Georgetown, where Trevor Scott and Sierra Waggoner set up live at Blue Hole Park, using the popular spot’s lagoon backdrop as home base for an hour of exploring what the city has to offer. The visit highlighted Georgetown as a place to eat, shop, and play, with lots to discover around town.

The stunning Blue Hole Park, with its scenic lagoon, was the setting for this hour of We Are Austin. We’re exploring everything this beautiful city has to offer, from dining to shopping to plenty of play; there is so much to discover in Georgetown!
One of the featured stops was The Williamson Museum, where history is pitched as anything but dull. The Museum’s Executive Director, Danelle Houk, joined Trevor and Seirra to talk about Georgetown and Williamson County’s “fun and wacky” history and what visitors can check out on display.
“We have over 17,000 artifacts at the museum that help tell the story of Williamson County. We do special events programing anything you could think of. We want to make history fun and accessible for everybody,” shared Houk.

During the segment, the conversation focused on a quick overview of the museum and what visitors can expect, along with a look ahead at a big birthday coming up for Georgetown.
“We always celebrate this birthday, and we want to make history come alive. So we’ll be open and having some birthday celebrations. But it’s always, you know, just sharing all of our fun artifacts.”
Danelle also brought three artifacts to share, and the discussion included what’s coming up at the museum, including two upcoming events.
“Part of this gavel right here is from the tree that they met under on March 13th, 1848, Georgetown’s Birthday. This is from that tree. Yes. That tree doesn’t exist anywhere. It was lost in a storm, but somebody picked up part of the top part of the gavel between 1890 and 1900 and preserved it.”

“Tomorrow we have our ‘Night at the Museum.’ It’s focused on Wilco brain rot. We’ve made brain rot Williamson County character cool. And, so you can rot your brain with history. And then on March 21st, we actually have our seventh annual Texas Photography Festival coming up that we partner with white House photographer David Valdez, who was George H.W. Bush’s photographer. We feature Texas photographers, and it’s an all-day festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. That is going to be so much fun.”
