An Arlington resident was startled to find an unknown, allegedly intoxicated man sleeping in his apartment, police said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — An Arlington resident woke up to find a man he didn’t know sleeping in his apartment, according to police.

The Arlington Police Department (APD) said officers responded at approximately 1:05 a.m. Friday to an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Silverbrook Lane after the resident reported finding an unknown man sleeping in his apartment.

The resident told police he had fallen asleep earlier that evening, and when he woke up, found the unknown man sleeping in his apartment and did not recognize him. The resident also said he was unsure how the man got into his apartment, though admitted it was possible he left the front door unlocked.

There were no signs of forced entry, police said.

Officers woke up the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, police said. Police arrested the man and booked him into Arlington City Jail on a count of Public Intoxication.

The resident told police he did not want to press trespassing charges. Officers later learned the man lives in the same apartment complex building but on a different floor.
