East Texas (KETK)– This weekend is going to be busy in East Texas, with several events scheduled to take place across the region. However, there is uncertainty about the outdoor events happening over the three days, as significant rainfall and a chance of severe storms are expected.
Oilmen’s Chili Cookoff in Kilgore
Starting on Thursday, there is an Oilmen’s Chili Cookoff in Kilgore. The theme is “Chiliville,” a spinoff of Margaritaville. The cookoff is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the World’s Richest Acre in Downtown Kilgore. Aside from being a crowd favorite, the cookoff serves as a fundraiser for East Texas Treatment Center and several other nonprofits.
Hot Pepper Festival in Palestine
The Palestine Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Hot Pepper Festival on Friday and Saturday at the Farmers Market Pavilion. Throughout the two-day festival, there will be cornhole, a car show cruise-in, live music and a chili cook-off.
The Chili cookoff will be on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday will include an all-day car show cruise-in by Journey HQ. The cruise-in will take place between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will be giving out $6,000 worth of prizes to attendees.
Feral Hog Festival in Ben Wheeler
The Feral Hog Festival is coming to Ben Wheeler on Friday and Saturday. Friday will include a pageant from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Forge Bar and Grill. The winner of the pageant will receive $500. The runner-up will receive $250.
On Saturday, there will be a parade, vendors, activities, and a Wild Hog Cook Off from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
Fall Concert Series in Jacksonville
Jacksonville is continuing its Fall Concert Series at Hazel Tilton Park with Sean Christopher and special guests Randy Gorham and Shane Pace performing. The concert will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday.
Artful Pages Book Fest in Mineola
On Saturday, Mineola League of the Arts is hosting an Artful Pages Book Fest between 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will have multiple authors offering open book readings, discussing their writing journey, Q&A opportunities and more.
Rustic C. Ranch Fundraiser in Tyler
The Rustic C. Ranch Rescue Fundraiser is coming to Tyler on Saturday. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with games, a petting zoo, food trucks and a real-life unicorn available for photo opportunities. All proceeds from the event will go to the rescue horses.
For archaeologists, the Marshall Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an Archeology Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harrison County Historical Museum. There will be “mock digs” where children can uncover artifacts, archaeology true/false games and an artifact reconstruction puzzle activity where one can cut and color their own pottery puzzle.
The Kingdom Christian Center is hosting a Fall Festival from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall on Saturday evening. They will have food and games.
Murder Mystery Paint Party in Canton
‘A New Creation‘ is hosting a Murder Mystery Paint Party in Canton from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the theme of: A Great Gatsby Masquerade. It’s open to the public, but anyone interested must purchase a ticket online.
It’s formal attire and the night will include painting a mysterious 1920s-inspired masterpiece, playing suspect or sleuth in a who-dun-it mystery, and once the host is found “dead” before revealing their newest painting, the guests must unravel clues, question one another, and find the killer before the final brushstroke. Drinks will be provided.
