V.R. Eaton High School planned the perfect prom: a spring night at the shiny Globe Life Field in Arlington.
Just one problem: a famous rock band just booked the venue the same night.
The Haslet high school learned its May 16 prom was bumped only after receiving promotional emails this week about the Eagles’ concert, “The Long Goodbye, Act III” tour.
Principal Stacy Miles broke the news to seniors and families in an email this week. The contract, signed in February 2025, was being “disregarded and canceled because the band The Eagles have booked Globe Life Park,” she wrote.

The venue does not have an equitable solution, Miles said, and school leaders “are disappointed in the company’s response to us and disappointed to have to give you this news.”
In an email Friday to The Dallas Morning News, Globe Life Field and REV Entertainment, the official entertainment partner of the Texas Rangers, said they are working with event organizers and have reached a resolution pending a new date.
“In coordination with the school, we are committed to providing an alternative experience at no expense to ensure all students have a memorable celebration,” they said.
Eaton High — whose mascot is an eagle — paid a $21,000 deposit for the venue, which will be refunded. A spokesperson for Northwest ISD said the school will review all options, including moving prom to a different date at Globe Life Field.
The Eagles got its start in Los Angeles in 1971, becoming one of the most successful musical acts of all time with hits like “Hotel California,” and “Desperado.”
The band famously launched its first farewell tour more than two decades ago. It has been playing shows on its “Long Goodbye” tour since 2023.
