Downtown Georgetown has a group of cheerleaders with a mission: supporting the community and businesses in the heart of the city. Tammy Stokley and Kimberly Cauble joined Trevor and Sierra to share their love for the city and its downtown community.
“So the Downtown Georgetown Association, known as the DDA, is a nonprofit membership organization, and we are there to support our local, historical downtown business owners,” explained Stokley, “And we do that in various different ways. But the biggest is we come alongside them and promote them, help design collaboration with them, and then also promote getting visitors as a premier destination into their storefronts.”

The Downtown Georgetown Association serves downtown Georgetown, focusing on helping the area’s local businesses and the broader community. The group works to support local businesses and encourage more people to spend time downtown, boosting foot traffic for shops, restaurants, and other small businesses.
“We do a lot of creative things,” shared Cauble, “We try to help our business partners by creating social media one, but also by helping to promote collaborations between businesses. It’s important to promote collaboration over competition. And our businesses are great about participating in that. So we do offer a lot of creative ways for them to collaborate with each other to help promote them through social media.”

“Our biggest thing is to make sure that we are representing the community, the spirit of downtown Georgetown. And the best way to do that is to design social media campaigns, to really tell that story. But also through large events. We do very large-scale events like the Christmas stroll, market days, and those are free family events that introduce downtown Georgetown to that audience and then have them coming back as, to our premier destination as a city.”
