The spring application deadline for graduating seniors is approaching quickly for students ready to receive their diplomas.

The deadline to apply for spring graduation is Monday, and the in-person commencement ceremonies will happen May 3 at Global Life Field.

To guarantee walking across the stage with a cap and gown, students must check with their academic advisers to see whether they are eligible to graduate at the end of the graduation application term.

Part of the process is the dues. There is a nonrefundable and nontransferable $40 graduation application fee, which is billed each semester that a student files for. If the application is not completed by the deadline, the fee increases by an additional $60, according to the UTA website.

The application can be accessed by logging in to MyMav, clicking the “Academic Records” section, then selecting the “Application for Graduation” tab. Students should confirm that the information regarding the degree is correct before applying.

For undergraduates, dual majors and dual degrees are submitted under one application and fee, according to the UTA website. For graduates, dual majors require an application for each program and two fees.

Important deadlines for graduate students include the May 11 due date for submission of their approved thesis or dissertation to the library, and a Final Master’s Exam Report or Dissertation Defense Report to the Office of the Registrar.

Graduates are expected to dress appropriately for the ceremony and can visit Grad Finale from March 17 to 19 at the UTA Bookstore to purchase caps, gowns and other memorabilia. It is recommended to purchase regalia early for proper sizing, according to the UTA website.

Graduates will receive their diplomas within approximately six to eight weeks after the completion of conferral through the United States Postal Service. Holds in graduates’ accounts must be cleared before their diplomas can be released for mailing.
