SAN ANTONIO – A man will spend decades in prison after a judge sentenced him in a child pornography case, following an online tip that led to a search warrant.

On February 27, 2026, Judge Ron Rangel of the 379th District Court sentenced Raul Bonillas Viera to 40 years in prison for possession of child pornography, a first-degree felony.

The case began in July 2023, when the Office of the Attorney General’s Southern Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce received a National Center for Missing & Exploited Children CyberTipline report.

The report involved an individual who uploaded an image of child sexual abuse material to Bing’s reverse image search technology. The image was believed to be of a female child younger than 10 years of age.

After an investigation, the task force obtained and executed a search warrant, seizing the defendant’s electronic devices and other property. Authorities said the search uncovered more than 500 images of child sexual abuse material, as well as at least one explicit video depicting sexual acts involving a child.

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Andrea Crespo and Jeff Wright of the Public Integrity and Civil Rights Division led the prosecution team, with support from Victim Advocate Myra Martinez and Investigator Gregory H. DeHoyos.

“The exploitation of children is among the most serious crimes we prosecute,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said. “Today’s sentence reflects the gravity of this offense and our unwavering commitment to protecting children and holding offenders fully accountable.”
