EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso Congresswoman Veronica Escobar is asking utility companies to pause penalties and service disconnections for federal workers and contractors as the government shutdown continues.

Escobar, along with more than 50 other House Democrats, is petitioning major utility companies to suspend late fees and shutoffs as federal workers could lose access to water, electricity or internet through no fault of their own.
