A father and son who went outside to check the damage after a wounded driver crashed into their West Dallas home earlier this month were then shot and killed themselves, according to the arrest-warrant affidavit by Dallas police.
Pedro Lara Roa, 47, and his son, Pedro Lara, 21, were both pronounced dead at the scene following the Oct. 5 crash into their home in the 3800 block of Bernal Drive, police have said.
In addition to the father and son, the unidentified driver of the van, who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash was also found dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the upper body, the affidavit shows. Police have still not publicly identified the third victim.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Brian Pineda Ayala, 23, and Jimy Caceres Leiva, 28, were taken into custody in Houston by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Each of them is facing a charge of capital murder of multiple persons, according to the warrant.

The arrest warrant said surveillance camera video recorded a gray Chevrolet Malibu driving behind the van just before the gunfire and crash. The footage also captured the Malibu leaving the area after the incident.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety spotted and stopped the Malibu in Houston before the four people inside were taken into custody by officers with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the affidavit said.
Officers later recovered three guns from inside the vehicle, according to the affidavit. After an investigation, police determined that Leiva, the driver of the Malibu, was the triggerman accused of killing the three victims.
The warrant does not identify a motive for the shootings or say if the suspects were intentionally looking to target the father and son.
