LAS VEGAS – The Texas A&M men’s golf team kicks off March with an appearance at the talent-laden Southern Highlands Collegiate from Sunday to Tuesday.
A strong field of 15 teams tackles the famed Southern Highlands Golf Club. Every team is ranked in the Scoreboard powered by Clippd top 50, including the top four teams. Seven SEC teams are in the field along with three Big Ten teams.
Texas A&M trots out a formidable lineup headlined by a pair of players in the Scoreboard top 100, No. 26 Aaron Pounds and No. 70 Wheaton Ennis. They are joined by Jaime Montojo, Kris Kuvaas and Jake Maggert.
The Aggies are heading to Las Vegas for the fourth consecutive season looking to build on their early season success. They have wins at the 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational and the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational. The Maroon & White have finished in the top three of their last four tournaments. Texas A&M has a history of success in the event with Anthony Rodriguez claiming the program’s lone individual title in 1994. The best finishes were second in 2011 and third in 2010.
Played under various formats and names since 1974, the Southern Highlands Collegiate has consistently featured loads of talent. Jay Don Blake, Stewart (1992), David Duval (1992), Billy Mayfair (1987), Phil Michelson (1989 and ’91), Ryan Moore (2003) and Camilo Villegas (2002) are all former winners who went on to enjoy PGA Tour success.

Southern Highlands Golf Club is one of only four courses co-designed by legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr. and his sone Robert Trent Jones Jr. The loop features the rugged natural beauty of the desert with 225 acres of mountainous terrain providing elevation changes along with ponds, waterfalls and deep-faced bunkers.
