SAN MARCOS, Texas – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team dropped a 4-1 decision to Texas State in the rubber game of a three-game series Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
 
Southeastern (14-7) and Texas State (12-7) were deadlocked in a scoreless tie, until the Bobcats broke open the game with a four-run fifth inning. SLU scored a run in the top of sixth, but could get no closer.
 
Kailey Dixon led SLU with two hits and drove in Shelby Morris with Southeastern’s lone run. Morris, Veronica Puckett and Maria Detillier also collected hits for the Lady Lions.
 
Macie LaRue (2-1) struck out seven and allowed five hits in 4.1 innings of work to take the tough-luck loss in the circle. Tyler Oubre, Haley Crawford and Katherine Thiessen also saw action in the circle for SLU.
 
Southeastern will return to action Sunday, facing Sam Houston State at 10 a.m. and Oklahoma at 12:30 p.m.
