KYLE, Texas — A Kyle animal shelter that planned to close its doors has postponed the shutdown after a fundraiser brought in nearly $67,000.
PAWS Shelter of Central Texas announced that its board decided to keep the campus open on a month-to-month basis following an outpouring of community support. The shelter had originally planned to close Oct. 31.

“Thanks to you, we’ve raised $66,829 in donations (not including pledges!) in under one week,” the organization said on Facebook. “Your overwhelming support and generosity have inspired our board to keep the Kyle Campus open.”
The shelter said it must continue raising funds through its “Save Kyle” campaign to maintain operations. Board members and staff are working daily to develop a long-term sustainability plan for the facility.
