Corpus Christi, Texas (DC Pool) — President Donald Trump made a stop at a Corpus Christi Whataburger–a hometown favorite after he delivered remarks in the Coastal Bend at the Port of Corpus Christi.
Trump’s motorcade pulled into the popular Texas fast-food chain shortly after his event wrapped up Friday evening.
The first Whataburger opened in 1950 in Corpus Christi.
Inside, he greeted patrons and asked, “Are these the best burgers?” Customers responded that they were.
The president also asked diners whether they liked his recent State of the Union address and questioned why Democrats “didn’t stand up,” according to pool reports.
At one point, Trump told the crowd, “Hamburgers for all. I’d say drinks for all but I don’t drink.”
He also touted his support in the Lone Star State, saying he received more votes from Texas than anyone, before adding he planned to grab some burgers for Air Force One and “get the hell out of there.”
Supporters inside the restaurant cheered and one person shouted, “We love you, Mr. President!”
Trump was handed a to-go bag marked with a “47” table tag before shaking hands with the restaurant’s manager and several employees.
