Plano West and Plano are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Wolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Plano West and Plano East faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. The Wolves came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 10-5. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Panthers: they’ve now won three in a row.
Kendall Prowell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it’s clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Plano West got a massive performance out of Beetle Nell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Amber Carrillo also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
They weren’t the only ones working in the home run department: Plano West lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That’s the most home runs they’ve posted since back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, Plano never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Princeton as they made off with a 16-0 win. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Caroline Evans and Ashley Johnston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Evans pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Johnston tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Evans has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn’t given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Evans went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Johnston earned three runs and two stolen bases. Those three runs gave Johnston a new career-high.
In other batting news, Aubrey Zhang was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That’s the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Darby DeJean, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Plano’s record is now 8-6-1. As for Plano West, the win got them back to even at 5-5-1.
Tuesday’s game will be a test for both teams’ pitchers. Plano West hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it’s not like Plano struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plano West came up short against Plano when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 13-8. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll find out soon enough.
