Arlington police have arrested a second suspect in connection to a November 2025 shooting on Interstate 20 that killed a woman and her unborn child, according to court records.
Cory Daniels, 26, was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday and has been charged with capital murder of multiple persons in the death of 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson, who was pregnant.
Police arrested the first suspect, 29-year-old Malik Miner, in December. Miner, who police allege was the shooter, is charged with capital murder of multiple persons, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct.
Officers initially responded to a parking lot in the 4900 block of Little Road about 7:40 p.m. on Nov. 12 after a man called and reported that his girlfriend had been shot as the couple drove westbound on I-20 near Bowman Springs Road, police said.
After speaking to witnesses, investigators determined that the shooting was targeted and not the result of road rage, Arlington police said. Miner and Johnson had previously been involved in a romantic relationship, and Miner was feuding with her current boyfriend, who was driving the victims’ car, according to investigators.
Through further investigation, homicide detectives obtained evidence that indicates Daniels was driving the car from which Miner opened fire, Arlington police said in a news release on Saturday, Feb. 28. The suspects’ car was registered to Daniels, police said.
Detectives obtained a warrant for Daniels’ arrest, and members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force arrested him on Wednesday in Arlington.
Both suspects declined to speak with investigators following their arrests, police said.
Johnson was the mother of three children, ages 7, 6, and 2, her family said on a GoFundMe page for her funeral expenses. Two of her boyfriend’s children were in the car at the time of the shooting, and Johnson died after shielding them from gunfire, her family said.
“Bre’Asia’s final, selfless act was to protect the very children she loved with all her heart,” her family wrote. “Tragically, her children are now left behind, without their mother, and the unborn child will never have the chance to know the love and warmth Bre’Asia was so ready to give.”
Daniels and Miner remained in jail on Saturday with bond set at $1 million on the capital murder charges.
