COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – No. 15 Texas A&M defeated head coach Trisha Ford’s alma mater, Saint Mary, 12-1 in five innings in their second game of its double header on day two of the Texas A&M Invitational.
The Aggies beat Kennesaw State in six innings 11-2 in their first game of the day on Saturday. Here is a game rundown:
Why did A&M win? Aggies broke it open in the bottom of the third. With A&M already leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, KK Dement hit a fly ball that dropped into the right-center gap, scoring Micaela Wark and Mya Perez to extend the lead to 4-0.
Later in the same frame, with the Aggies having already added three more runs, Kennedy Powell hit a line drive down the left field line. The ball nearly was caught but popped out, resulting in a 2 RBI double for Powell.
What’s next? A&M wraps up the weekend against Louisiana on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
