AUSTIN, Tx. (WISH) — Three people were shot and killed at a bar Sunday morning in Austin, Texas.

The shooting took place at Buford’s Bar, located on West 6th Street and Gio Grande Street.

According to the Chief of Austin-Travis County EMS, Robert Luckritz, police received the call at 1:59 a.m. and within 57 seconds, the first paramedics and officers were on scene, actively treating patients.

There were a total of 17 patients on the scene with 14 of those were transported to a hospital.

Three were pronounced dead at the scene and three remain in critical condition, according to Luckritz.

Just before 6 a.m. Central Time, Chief of Austin Police Department Lisa Davis gave a statement regarding the shooting, saying it was a “male shooting.”

Davis said three of APD’s officers were faced by the male with a gun and returned fire, killing the suspect.

Mayor Kirk Watson of Austin said this is an ongoing investigation and that updates will be provided throughout the day.
