LUBBOCK, Texas (TTU) – The Texas Tech men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams claimed both conference indoor titles Saturday evening inside the Sports Performance Center.

Malachi Snow was named the meet’s High Point Performer as he won both the 60m and 60m hurdles (20 points). Snow went 7.43 in the hurdles and 20 mins later clocked in at 6.46 in the 60m. Meanwhile, George Garcia won the 600yd tying his teammate Kyzer Dunbar’s school record of 1:08.14 as Dunbar placed second with a time of 1:08.20. Jonathan Sermes won the men’s triple jump tying Bryce Lamb’s 2013 school record of 16.96m (55-7 ¾). Stephen Mutai captured the 800m title with a time of 1:48.23.
Over on the women’s side, two Red Raiders were crowned champions. Tonie-Ann Forbes dropped a blistering time of 7.91 for a new school record. Ruta Lasmane won her second indoor crown leaping 13.79m (45-3).
The bulk of the men’s point came from the sprints where they totaled 76 points – 20 in the 60m alone. Eight of the 19 events saw the men score in double digits. As far as the women go, the field events totaled 59.5 points, with 23 coming from the high jump. They tallied double digits in five of 19 events.

Amori Pierson (4th) and McKenzie Davis (5th) scored in the women’s shot put – the only throwing event the Red Raiders were entered in today.Brian Tinega set a new indoor Kenyan national record in the 400m with a time of 45.68.The women’s 4×400 team of Mekenze Kelley, Anita Afrifa, Lovina Ewusi and Vanessa Balde placed 2nd overall with a time of 3:31.44 to clinch the title over BYU.Lily Mather lowered her school record in the 1000m to 2:45.99 as she placed 4th overall. She is the first Tech woman to dip under 2:46.Tamiah Washington scored 2nd in the triple jump with a mark of 13.62m (44-8 ¼). Four Red Raiders overall scored in the triple jump.
