LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Some heat on the South Plains Sunday.
Several communities hit the 90-degree temperature mark on the West Texas Mesonet sites across the region, close to our record in Lubbock. The maximum temperature was 87 degrees, so our record of 89 degrees, set in 2006, stays in place.

Some big changes in temperatures beginning Monday. A cold front moving through the area this evening will bring high temps back to near normal, mostly 60s and a few 70s.
Winds will be gusty this evening with that cold front, but will diminish as they turn to the southeast Monday.
More clouds through the week with some slim chances for rain on Monday through Wednesday. However, you may be able to dust off the umbrella by Thursday with more favorable shower and thunderstorm activity by late week and into early next weekend.
