EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Voters in El Paso County’s Precinct 4 are getting an early look at a contested Democratic primary race that spans a large stretch of the county, from Anthony to Hondo Pass and east to the New Mexico state line.

Annette Griego is running for the Democratic nomination for Precinct 4, challenging current County Commissioner Sergio Coronado, who represents West El Paso and the broader Precinct 4 area.

During a morning interview, Griego was asked why voters should support her, along with where she stands on several issues expected to be top of mind for residents.

Among them: property taxes and what she would propose to realistically ease the burden on homeowners.

She was also asked about concerns over AI data centers in El Paso and their potential impact on local resources, and what she believes needs to be done.

The interview also addressed immigration detention, as El Paso has been in the national spotlight over East Camp Montana at Fort Bliss, described as one of the biggest immigration detention centers in the country and located on federal land. Griego was asked for her take on that issue, as well as the possibility of another detention facility in Socorro that would fall under county jurisdiction.

Griego was also given a chance to add anything else she wanted voters to know. No responses from Griego were included in the provided script.
