The owner of Buford’s bar on West Sixth Street in Downtown Austin had this message for victims, their families and law enforcement.
AUSTIN, Texas — The owner of the West Sixth Street Bar that was attacked just before 2 a.m. on Sunday has released a statement following the tragedy.Â
Bob Woody, owner of Buford’s bar in Downtown Austin, gave his condolences to the victims and their families and praised law enforcement for their quick response to the shooting.Â

“I would like to give my condolences  to all the families affected by this tragedy. I cannot explain the sorrow we feel or imagine the pain these folks are going through.Â
To the families of the victims, my thoughts and prayers go out to you.
Thank you to Mayor Watson and Chief Davis for their leadership, and for keeping everyone informed so quickly.Â
To the first responders: You saved lives. You arrived in under a minute and placed yourselves at risk to stop the terrorist. Your swift and courageous actions saved so many.Â
This city is proud of the selfless actions by all first responders.
I have been in communication with APD, FBI, and TABC, all have been helpful and very supportive. Â Â
Wednesday, I will have a debriefing with my staff The FBI will provide grief counseling services for them. I’m very thankful for this.Â
Once again, my heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.”
Two victims were killed during the shooting and 14 were injured. Three of those injured were in critical condition as of the last update by officials on Sunday.Â
The suspect was shot and killed by Austin police.Â
