There’s a new video going viral that has El Pasoans everywhere nodding in agreement. In the clip, a guy says he can immediately tell someone is from El Paso the second he hears them say two simple words:

“Ay Ay.”

Doesn’t matter what city he’s in. Doesn’t matter what state. If he hears it, he knows instantly that the person is from El Paso!

Is it a superpower of his? Not really, because he’s not wrong, and many El Pasoans happily agree with him!

The Phrase That Instantly Signals El Paso Roots

If you grew up in the 915, you’ve heard it your entire life. “Ay Ay” isn’t loud. It’s not dramatic. It’s not even complicated. But it carries a lot of weight; it can mean:

All depending on tone.
