Early voting for the 2026 primary election started Feb. 17 and ended Feb. 27 across the state, and unofficial results show 16.09% of Tarrant County residents voted early or by mail ahead of the March 3 primary elections, according to data from the secretary of state website.

The details

The county’s turnout for early voters was more than 86,000 voters for registered Republicans and more than 123,000 for registered Democrats, out of 1,306,427 total registered voters.

According to the data, 2,522 votes came from mail-in ballots from registered Republicans and 1,807 from registered Democrats.

Overall, 6.63% of voters participated as registered Republicans and 9.46% of voters participated as registered Democrats during the early voting period, per the website.

The primary elections for the Democratic and Republican parties are preliminary elections to select candidates from each party for the November election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. March 3 for election day. Registered Tarrant County voters are required to vote at their designated polling centers.
