EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Five migrants were apprehended after a vehicle pursuit on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 22, in El Paso’s Lower Valley, according to U.S. Border Patrol.

Shortly before noon on Wednesday, a Texas DPS Trooper was on a routine patrol. The trooper saw a vehicle near the Yarbrough Drive exit and attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation.

The vehicle failed to stop, which then led to a vehicle pursuit. The vehicle then came to a stop, resulting in a bail out, followed by a foot pursuit near Yarbrough Drive and Mazatlan Drive, according to Border Patrol. That intersection is near Bel Air High School.

Finally, a total of five migrants were apprehended and referred to Border Patrol.

The driver and one of the passengers were from Mexico, and the other three passengers were from Ecuador, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details are available at this time, Border Patrol said.
