SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) – If you’re born and raised in the Lone Star State, celebrations were in order Monday because it was Texas Independence Day.
190 years ago on March 2, 1836, Texas formally separated from Mexico and became the Independent Republic of Texas.
Sherman’s public services librarian Lauren Cannon said there’s a lot of Texas history, and if you want to learn more, the library is the place to be.
“The library is here to help with resources whether that’s physical books, coming by and looking at our posters, we set out some coloring pages or maybe it’s at home through E-books and e-audio books,“ said Cannon.
Posters explaining how we reached modern day Texas are on display at the library along with all the books.
