One person was killed in a crash following a police chase in Fort Worth on Monday.
Fort Worth police officers responded shortly before 5 p.m. to a hit-and-run in the eastbound lanes of West Freeway near Horne Street, police said in the statement.
The 911-caller told police that his car had been struck by another vehicle, and he was following it because the driver failed to stop after the accident, according to police.
Officers found the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the driver, who failed to yield and officers briefly chased the vehicle going east on Camp Bowie Boulevard, police said.
Investigators believe that the driver hit a curb in the 3700 block of Camp Bowie , lost control and then crashed into a tree, police said.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported, police said.
The person who died will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after next of kin have been notified.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
