KILGORE, Texas (KETK)– The 32nd Annual East Texas Oilmen’s Association Chili Cook-off kicked off in Kilgore on Thursday, drawing crowds from near and far to enjoy a day of chili tasting and community fun.

The event was open to the public but charged a $10 entry fee for chili cooks, who allowed attendees to sample an assorted variety of chili. The cook-off serves as a fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the East Texas Treatment Center.
“Oh, it’s great, because I’ll see a lot of people that I know were born and raised here. And we see people here, and some people I haven’t seen all year. They’re back out here to see each other and it’s really good,” board member for the East Texas Treatment Center Darrin Mallett said.
The funds raised from the chili cook-off will support the East Texas Treatment Center and its mission and community services.
