HOUSTON – The famous Houston event, one of the largest livestock shows and rodeos in the world, running March 2–22 at NRG Park, welcomed thousands of attendees Monday as gates opened for its 21-day run.
Knowles, affectionately known as Mama Tina, spent the day greeting fans and dishing out her world-famous Creole gumbo at her booth on the Fannin side of the fairgrounds.
In an exclusive live interview with KPRC2 News, she shared the excitement of debuting her culinary creation at the rodeo and spoke with visitors eager to taste her signature dish.
The gumbo, a cherished family recipe that Knowles has perfected over decades, marks a new culinary highlight of RodeoHouston in 2026.
Rodeo organizers and fans have welcomed the addition, blending classic Texas rodeo barbecue with the rich flavors of Creole cooking.
From seasoned rodeo fans to first-time visitors, attendees lined up for a taste of the savory gumbo while soaking up the lively opening-day atmosphere.
Knowles’ presence added a hometown celebrity touch, celebrating Houston’s cultural and culinary roots during one of the city’s biggest annual events.
