HOUSTON – The HCU women’s basketball season came to a close on Monday evening inside Sharp Gym as the Huskies fell to visiting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 46-42, in a Southland Conference matchup.

The game started close, tied at 6-6 early, before the Islanders (6-23, 5-17 SLC) went on a 7-0 run. The Huskies (8-21, 6-16 SLC) worked their way back, tying things back up at 15-15 early in the second quarter after Grace Booth and Kamryn McLaurin scored consecutive buckets. The next five points went to TAMUCC, however, and the visitors maintained an advantage before taking a 27-22 lead into halftime.

Tove Caesar and Booth scored the opening five points of the second half to even things back up, but the Islanders again had an answer. The Huskies shot just 27.3 percent (18-of-66) from the floor in the loss and were out-rebounded by the Islanders, 47-39. HCU forced 20 TAMUCC turnovers, however, while committing just 13.
