A 19-year-old man who was killed in a shooting at a Fort Worth party over the weekend served in the Marines after he graduated from high school and was getting ready to start a new job in Dallas, according to a fundraiser for his family.
“The Bowman family is facing an unimaginable loss,” according to a GoFundMe post. “Their son, Lyndon Clay, was at a party in Fort Worth, Texas, when a fight broke out and gunshots rang out. While trying to escape the chaos, Lyndon was struck by a bullet and died instantly at the scene.”
“He was a bright young man with a promising future ahead of him — he had just been hired by Texas Health Dallas and was set to start his new job in March,” the GoFundMe states. “Lyndon was also a proud Marine and a dedicated college student. He would have celebrated his 20th birthday in April 2026.”
Clay was a 2024 graduate of Uplift Wisdom Preparatory in Dallas, according to a 2025 Instagram post in which the school celebrated his military service.
“While transitioning through boot camp, Lyndon kept his family in mind, reminding himself of why and who he was doing it for,” the school’s post said. “He’s most proud of enlisting in the military after high school and looks forward to pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and starting his own car garage business.”
Fort Worth police homicide investigators determined a large group of people were gathered in the parking lot outside a warehouse on Northwest 35th Street when a fight broke out and shots were fired early Sunday, police have said.
Clay was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police said a second shooting victim was hospitalized in unknown condition.
No arrests have been announced in the case as police continue to investigate.
