TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Dallas) said Tuesday that voters in some counties are experiencing confusion at the polls after changes to the polling locations voters must use.
“They are not allowed to vote countywide like we normally do,” Crockett said. “They are forced to go into their precincts to cast their votes. And so it’s causing a lot of confusion. And we are hearing that a lot of voters are being turned away.”
Crockett attributed the change to Republicans and said her campaign is responding by sending additional text messages to voters directing them to their correct polling locations.
Crockett is running for U.S. Senator from Texas as part of the Democratic Party.
Crockett said she is optimistic about East Texas, noting her ties to the region and that her campaign made early outreach there a priority.
“I’m hoping that East Texas comes through and shows love, because East Texas is not only where I started practicing law, but it’s also where I actually started my political career,” said Crockett. “So having been in those courtrooms for years and years and years, I think East Texas knows who I am.”
Crockett said Dallas County, Tarrant County and Collin County will be early indicators of how she performs on election night. She said strong numbers in those counties could offset results in Central Texas, where her primary opponent, U.S. Rep. James Talarico, is from.
