EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso officials say the Trump campaign still owes the city more than $600,000 for costs tied to a past campaign rally in 2019, prompting the City Council to order regular updates on efforts to collect the money.

Information compiled in 2019 by the Center for Public Integrity found that at least 12 cities owed money from past Trump campaign rallies.

El Paso was the largest city listed as owing money, with an outstanding balance of more than $569,000.

The City of El Paso said that, due to interest, the amount owed is now more than $600,000.

El Paso County said the Trump administration campaign owes about $1.6 million to all the cities.

On Tuesday, the El Paso City Council voted to require the city manager and city attorney to provide a quarterly report on the status of requesting that the Trump administration pay back the amount.
