ABILENE, Texas –The third tournament of the spring is in the books for UT Arlington women’s golf. The Mavericks held serve in the final round of the West Texas Classic, entering the day in sixth place out of 16 teams and walking out of the tournament in the same position.
UTA posted a 32-over-par 312 to wrap up with a total score of a 62-over 902.
Kamri Gabel paced the Mavericks with a 6-over-par 76 in round three. The senior also finished with the lowest tournament score on the Mavericks — a 12-over 222 — and tied for 19th place. Gabel also parred 11 holes in the final round, the high-water mark for UTA on day two.
Redshirt senior Chandler Browning matched Gabel’s effort, carding a 6-over 76 of her own to cap off her tournament. The Prosper native surged 15 spots in the rankings, finishing in a tie for 51st place with an overall score of a 22-over 232. Browning also birdied two holes, the only Maverick to birdie multiple holes in the third round.
Tarini Bhoga came into the day as the top-placed UTA player of the tournament before a 10-over 80 saw her finish two strokes back of Gabel. The sophomore turned in scores of 71-73-80– 224 and placed in a tie for 26th.
Following back-to-back rounds of 74 to open the West Texas Classic, Nirjara Gulhane finished her week with an 11-over 81. The junior finished tied for 44th.
Wrapping up the Mavericks lineup was Carmen Gonzalez Lo-A-Njoe who maintained her spot in the standings after a final round 80. Lo-A-Njoe fell one spot into a tie for 57th.

The Mavericks will get a short reprieve before competing in the Riverbend Intercollegiate. The tournament begins Monday at the Riverbend Country Club in Houston. Live scoring for the tournament can be found on Scoreboard.
